“Inexcusable errors” in investigation of Canadian journalist’s murder: Air India Inquiry

Tara Singh Hayer

Canadian Journalists for Free Expression just published my follow-up to a story I wrote last December about murdered  journalist Tara Singh Hayer, the publisher/editor of Surrey, B.C.’s Indo-Canadian Times and an important Crown witness in the trial of two suspected bombers (both later acquitted). In June, the Air India Inquiry produced a report that condemned CSIS and the RCMP for their failure to protect Hayer. I write about the commission’s findings in this year’s CJFE International Press Freedom Review (pg 46).
